access to E-BOOKS and SCIENTIFIC ARTICLE DATABASES
NOVA FCSH provides access to hundreds of ebooks, thousands of scientific articles (in digital format) and referential databases.
How to access:
- At the NOVA FCSH campus there is access direct to the platform (this can be done with a computer connected to the campus’ wireless network).
Outside the campus, you can login using the FCSH ID credentials. In order to do so, you just need to configure your browser to use a NOVA FCSH proxy server followed by the introduction of your FCSH ID credentials.
(we recommend using the Firefox browser, especially on Mac computers)
- Accessing an article database:
- either through the NOVA Discovery platform (where no login is required)
- or through one of the databases listed here:

How to configure the proxy in your browser
1. Install Firefox here or update your old version, by following these steps.
2. Click 
(upper right corner)
3. Click “Configuration”
4. Browse until the end of page
5. At “Network Settings”, click em “Configuration…”
6. Selecionar “Manual proxy configuration”
Fill in the “HTTP Proxy” field with “proxy.fcsh.unl.pt”
Fill in the “Port” field with “3128”
Check the box “Use this proxy to HTTPS”
Click “OK”
After completing this configuration, when accessing any website, you will be asked to enter your FCSH ID credentials to connect through the Faculty’s proxy.
You should then enter them as follows:
Example: a20191238546 + Inforestudante password
Faculty members and researchers should use their institutional email password.
From that moment on, you can download e-books and articles with the same access and download permissions you would have on the NOVA FCSH campus.
