Este evento tem como objetivo explorar as implicações teóricas, éticas e pedagógicas das tecnologias de Inteligência Artificial (IA) no contexto da educação em língua inglesa. Reunindo investigadores, professores e formadores de professores do Brasil e de Portugal, pretende promover um diálogo crítico sobre a forma como a IA está a transformar o ensino, a aprendizagem e a formação de professores de línguas. Indo além da literacia em IA entendida como mera competência técnica, este simpósio destaca a importância do desenvolvimento da agência docente, capacitando os professores para tomarem decisões informadas, reflexivas e pedagogicamente fundamentadas sobre a utilização da IA na sua prática profissional.

How is Artificial Intelligence reshaping the way we teach and learn English? And how can teachers move from simply using AI tools to making informed, critical, and pedagogically grounded decisions about them?
This online symposium brings together researchers, teachers, and teacher educators from Brazil and Portugal
to explore the theoretical, ethical, and pedagogical implications of AI for English-language education.
Moving beyond AI literacy as a purely technical competence, the event places teacher agency at the centre of the conversation, empowering educators to reflect critically on the role of AI in their professional practice.
