Target audience

Adult non-native speakers of Portuguese interested in pursuing more in-depth training in Portuguese language and culture.

Objectives

The Portuguese Language and Culture Programme aims to enable students to:

(i) understand and express themselves in Portuguese, both orally and in writing, across different communicative contexts;

(ii) develop explicit knowledge of the structure and functioning of the Portuguese language;

(iii) become familiar with key aspects of Portuguese society, culture, art, history, literature, and heritage.

Course description

This is a semester-long course structured according to the levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (Council of Europe, 2001, 2020), covering levels A1 to B2. Each level comprises three language modules and one module focused on Portuguese culture. These modules can be taken individually or combined to form a complete course corresponding to a specific proficiency level.
