The Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities of Universidade Nova de Lisboa has organized since 1997 courses in Portuguese Language, which take place in July. These courses are aimed at foreign students who wish to learn or improve their knowledge of Portuguese language and culture.

Portuguese Language Courses

All the courses have a workload of 64h and are worth 4 ECTS credit units. The proficiency levels are organized according to the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages).

Workshop in Portuguese

The workshop in Portuguese aims to provide opportunities for practising specific language skills, depending on the level and needs of the students.

Sessions on Portuguese culture

In the sessions on Portuguese Culture, organized for the Advanced and Upper Intermediate courses, specific topics of Portuguese culture are addressed (literature, cinema / theatre and history). These sessions will be presented by experts in the fields.

Cultural Activities

Various cultural activities will be offered, such as visits to museums and to places of historical / cultural interest.
Participation in cultural activities is optional and will not be considered in the students’ evaluation.

Most of the cultural activities will be free, although there may be a small charge for some of them.

Evaluation

Students are evaluated through direct observation of their participation, oral/written tests and a final exam.
