Centre for the Study of the Literary Imaginary – CEIL

Objectives—CEIL

                 Currently, research developed by CEIL is organized according to two main objectives:

                 1. the study of forms of the literary imaginary and the underlying cultural context of each period;

                 2. the critical enquiry of the concept of Imaginary, especially concerning its relation both to the perception of reality and to other semiotic systems, namely language;

         Hence, the importance of text materiality and text-fixation in critical and critical-genetic editions

         These programmatic aims are to be fulfilled in conjunction with the unit’s three lines of action.

                 In the context of internationalization, the cooperation with LAPRIL, CRI and VECT (cf. Research Network) seeks to link the work developed by CEIL with the research that these centres have been carrying out for several years and which has materialized into numerous scientific achievements such as publications, conferences and seminars, therefore giving way to a more visible European perspective, as far as the specific research carried out by CEIL is concerned. Bearing the same goal in mind, we are attempting to set up a European network of thirteen centres, under the general coordination of the University of Perpignan.
